THE BREED: Miniature belted gallowayS

ORIGINATED: In Galloway, Scotland. Miniature Belted Galloways have a docile temperament and are easy to handle. They are also very hardy and can withstand harsh weather conditions.

CHARACTERISTICS: Miniature Belted Galloways are small cattle, with adults typically weighing between 500 and 800 pounds. They have long, shaggy coats that are weather-resistant and come in a variety of colors, including black, brown, red, and white. They have a distinctive white belt around their middle, which is a characteristic of the Belted Galloway breed.

HISTORY: A relatively new breed of cattle, having only been developed in the early 1900s. They are believed to have originated from a cross between the Belted Galloway and the Shetland pony.

ABOUT: ANCESTRAL FARM

BACKGROUND: We’ve been raising grass fed beef for over a decade. But we finally decided to establish the farm as a business in 2020 and ‘go all in’. It has take a few years to ‘grow’ the herd but now we are coming into an era where we will have consistent beef available to our community.

PRODUCTS: We sell 100% Grass Fed Beef. We are not certified organic, however we practice in raising our animals as natural and healthy as we can.

BEEF: We only sell direct to consumer. We sell by cuts that we have on hand and do not sell half or whole size cow.
